Kathleen Hoyt

Kathy graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Mathematics and continued on to Columbia University in New York for her professional Physical Therapy training in 1974. She completed the Kaiser Northern California Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Residency in 1980 and has been in orthopaedic clinical practice in Southern California since 1974.  She was awarded her Diploma in MDT in 1991.

Kathy hosted the first McKenzie course in the USA in 1977 and was instrumental in developing the McKenzie Institute USA, serving as the first Chair of the organization for many years. She has  been a teaching faculty member for MIUSA, assisted in development and updating  of the Credentialing and Diploma examinations, and is an examiner  for  Diploma examinations.  As well as serving on numerous committees, including the BOT Advisory Committee and the International Education Committee, Kathy has developed numerous online MDT educational tools and assisted in the development of the MIUSA MDT Residency and Fellowship programs.

She was awarded the Institute’s Bronze Lady Extension Award in 1998 and appointed to the McKenzie Institute International Board of Trustees in 2018.
